The local-business growth checklist for your website

Nine concrete things your website should do to turn local searches into booked customers — from Google Business Profile to reviews to the one button that matters most.

Most local businesses do not have a traffic problem. They have a conversion problem: people find them, glance at the site, and leave without calling. Here is a checklist of nine fixes that turn local visitors into booked customers — in rough priority order.

1. Make the phone number tappable and obvious

On mobile, your number should be one thumb-tap away in the header, as a real tel: link. This is the single highest-ROI change on most local sites.

2. Put your service area and hours above the fold

"Do you cover my town? Are you open now?" Answer both before anyone scrolls. Ambiguity loses the call.

3. Claim and align your Google Business Profile

Your name, address, phone, and hours must match your website exactly. Inconsistency tanks both local rankings and AI answers.

4. Get reviews on the page — the real ones

Pull your Google reviews onto the site. Social proof from strangers beats any claim you make about yourself.

5. One primary action, repeated

Pick the single thing you want visitors to do — call, book, or request a quote — and repeat that one button down the page. Competing buttons split attention and kill conversion.

A landscaping client doubled quote requests by deleting their "Learn more" button and leaving only "Get a free quote." Fewer choices, more action.

6. Load fast on a phone on a bad connection

Half your visitors are on mobile data. If the page takes five seconds, they are gone. Fast hosting and lean pages are a growth feature, not a nicety.

7. Answer the top questions on the page

Hours, pricing bands, service area, guarantees. Every unanswered question is a reason to leave — and, increasingly, a fact an AI answer will get wrong about you.

8. Never send a caller to voicemail

The best-converting website in the world is wasted if the phone rings out. An AI receptionist or a real call-answering plan closes the loop after the click.

9. Measure the two numbers that matter

Track calls and form submissions, not vanity page views. Those two numbers are your website's actual job.

CORE builds these nine things in by default — tappable calls, aligned listings, review widgets, fast managed hosting, and an AI receptionist so no lead hits voicemail. Price your project in about two minutes with our estimate builder.
